It’s simply the best

If you’re thinking about going to see Tina The Musical at Sunderland Empire – stop thinking and go. Whether you’re a lifelong Tina fan or just love a good night out at the theatre, this show is an absolute must-see. Incredible music, an inspiring story and a finale so spectacular it had the entire audience on their feet. Trust me, you’ll be dancing all the way home. We even had the Tina playlist on for the drive back. I saw Tina in the West End last year, so I wasn’t sure how the set would translate to a touring production. But with clever use of video screens and moving props, it worked seamlessly. The final scene is breathtaking – with stunning lighting, an electrifying live band and a powerhouse performance that took the energy to another level. This is the story of Tina Turner. While her songs are legendary, the narrative is also heart-wrenching at times. It’s impossible not to feel an overwhelming sense of pride at what an incredible woman she was. From her struggles to her triumphs, it’s a journey that leaves you in awe of her strength, resilience and sheer talent.

And let’s talk about little Tina – local performer Chizaram Ochiba-Okafor as Anna Mae Bullock. For such a young talent, she is a powerhouse. As for the leading lady, while my favourite Tina is still Karis Anderson, Elle Ma-Kinga did an incredible job. Tina’s shoes are not easy to fill, but she brought energy, passion and power to the role. I only wish I had a fraction of her stamina! If you get the chance to see this show, take it. It’s simply the best night out you could ask for. Dates: Showing until 5th April Running Time: Approximately 2hrs 45mins Location: Sunderland Empire Parking: Public parking available nearby
