Theatre Don’t dream it… SEE IT!
Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show has landed at Darlington Hippodrome this week and the atmosphere is electric. The buzz in the theatre before the curtain even goes up is enough to leave anyone shivering with antici…pation. Local lad Adam Strong steals the show as Frank N Furter. His voice is phenomenal, his stage presence is magnetic and his legs? Incredible. Every note, every strut, every moment was pure perfection. Narrating the madness, Jackie Clune delivers another masterclass in comedy. Having seen her in this role before, it’s brilliant to see her just as sharp, sassy and quick-witted as ever. The audience participation is off the charts, with call outs, costumes and Time Warp-ing bringing the full Rocky Horror experience to life. The entire cast are great and bring so much energy, from a perfectly naive Brad and Janet to a show-stopping Columbia and a ridiculously ripped Rocky. Every performance is packed with talent, fun and just the right amount of chaos. Darlington Hippodrome have even gone the extra mile with a special themed cocktail for the week – the “Sweet Transvestite,” also available as a mocktail. A fantastic touch to an already unforgettable night.
