Gibside – Summer of Play

“This summer, Gibside is bursting with fun!”

If you’re looking for a family day out that blends nature, adventure, and plenty of giggles, Gibside’s Summer of Play should be at the top of your list.

This summer we headed to one of our favourite National Trust sites – Gibside – to explore their fantastic Summer of Play activities and it did not disappoint.

Walled Garden Wonders

The beautiful Walled Garden has been transformed into a collection of sensory play spots. Makenzie loved hopping between the different areas – especially the giant games section. We played a few rounds of snakes & ladders (and yes, there may have been a little bit of creative rule-following )

The Wildlife Wander trail was a brilliant way to get everyone moving. Along the route, we hopped like rabbits, stretched our arms like bird wings, and kept our eyes peeled for colourful moths. It was the perfect lead-up to… This really is as fun as it sounds. Picture space hopper races, giant board games, music-making zones, volleyball and more. We lost track of time and a few beanbag, while racing from one activity to the next. By the end of the day, Kenzie was happy-tired, covered in grass stains, and already asking when we’re going back. And honestly… we definitely will, because we didn’t manage to fit everything in!
